Driven by the dual carbon policy, green mining construction, and high oil prices, the electric excavator industry will accelerate its landing in 2026, and the mining scene will become a core incremental market. The industry will officially move from pilot projects to large-scale commercial use.

Market data shows that in the first quarter of this year, domestic sales of electric excavators reached 146 units, a year-on-year increase of over 180%. In March, sales surged by 406.7% year-on-year, demonstrating strong growth momentum. Although the overall penetration rate is only 0.2%, the growth rate of specialized mining equipment is far from satisfactory. The penetration rate of electric equipment in newly built open-pit mines has reached 34.7%, and bulk procurement of pure electric mining for coal, lithium, and bauxite projects has become the norm.

The product side is showing a trend towards large-scale and dual energy. Solve the problem of limited traditional electric excavation transfer and adapt to high-altitude and long tunnel mining conditions. The concentration effect of industry leaders is obvious, with domestic enterprises occupying nearly 80% of the market share of mining electric excavators, while the share of foreign brands continues to shrink.

On the technical level, there is a deep integration of electrification and intelligence. Manufacturers provide fast charging and mobile energy replenishment stations for mining areas, equipped with remote control and AI fault diagnosis systems, to achieve unmanned mining of high slopes and reduce safety risks in mining operations. Compared to fuel powered equipment, electric excavators have no exhaust emissions, low noise, and maintenance costs reduced by 70%. The purchase price difference can be recovered within 2-3 years, highlighting the economic advantages of the entire life cycle.

At present, the industry still faces pain points such as high battery costs and insufficient supporting facilities in remote mining areas. Various regions continue to introduce subsidies for oil to electricity conversion, and energy storage facilities in mining areas are gradually improving. The industry predicts that the average annual growth rate of mining electric excavators will remain above 15% in the next five years, and electrification will become the mainstream direction for updating mining equipment.
